| Paddlefish were formerly abundant in the Missouri, Mississippi and Gulf Coast drainages. They were also present in the Great Lakes. Significant declines have occurred in some rivers, while increases have been documented in others. Thats where the Inks Dam National Fish Hatchery comes in. This fish hatchery plays a pivotal role in restoring paddlefish populations in the Mississippi River basin, and raises largemouth bass and channel catfish for sport fishing. |

| Biologists at Inks Dam National Fish hatchery near Austin, Texas, have completed their pilot studies and now know the optimum size and power requirements for aerating one-acre ponds using solar power.
By combining a 120-watt photovoltaic panel and efficient deep water air pump and 9" air diffuser they found it mixes the entire pond and maintains high and constant oxygen levels. Initially, PEC worked with Inks Dam NFH using three smaller solar powered pond aerators in 1/4 acre ponds to replace high powered, high maintenance, noisy, paddlewheels. Continuing Inks Dam NFH solar aerator studies in a larger one acre hatchery pond demonstrated a need for a larger low capital cost, more energy efficient system. The ECO-AERATOR is based directly on these studies incorporating a permanent wet/dry floating mount and a 24" fine bubble epdm air diffuser. Our solar array is mounted on a low profile aluminum frame attached to a 3 ft x 4 ft deck and placed anywhere, on land or water, wet or dry. Assembly is easy. Simply secure the deck with the included auger tipped, coupled pipes, facing an unobstructed southern sky. Next, unfold the solar panel and center the diffuser (drag or drop) on the pond bottom, up to 100 feet away from the dock. Unit operates in full sun for up to 8 hours per day. It is also available with an upgrade power saver kit to operate nearly contiuously at reduced airflows. If you can open the box you can setup this unit and secure the SFD dock with a long handled pipe wrench to screw the augered pipes into the shorline bottom. Pump Specs: Two, 12V, 35 watt, 0.10 MPa, 2.5 cfm with replaceable inlet air filters. Shipping: One 52x48x15", box and one 24x18x18", box. Both boxes fit easily in car backseat/trunk area. |
