EKBS-15 Aeration O&M Instructions

STOP: If you DO NOT understand postive red and negative black electrical connections you will need to hire a local electrical handyman to install this unit.  Always connect ( red to red) and (black to black) . 1.)Assemble solar array (directions on box) facing south in a well drained and sunny area. Secure assembled frame to solid base. (a frame base, 3x4ft., of wood, brick, or plastic sheeting covered by loose gravel works well). YOUR WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER FLOOD OR SUBMERGED ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS.   Secure/stake frame base to ground at each corner to prevent movement during wind storms. 2.) Open battery boxes, install batteries, and correctly attach pump house battery cables.  3.) Open pump house top carefully by removing 8 top screws. Insure either  one or two black elec. jacks (depends on options)  are securely inserted in solar charge controller 12 Volt power outlets.  Use is based on oxygen demand, sunshine, and maintenance needs. Depress black toggle switches to on position. With battery cables connected to battery the pumps will vibrate and compress air.   If they DO NOT,  contact us. 4.) Lock solar panels into place on frame and block sun with black plastic provided. Run solar cables (one lead at a time) through pump house side opening adjacent to battery cables and attach to back of solar charge controller box. Remove black plastic shield. Touch and depress red LED light and examine box LED. With connections secured and panels  exposed to direct sun it should read 12.7-14.0 volts. If not, call us. Next depress red LED light switch off to conserve energy. Now depress black toggle switches to turn pumps on and leave them running. Secure lid carefully.... to avoid... airline kinks or wiring snags.

PUMP HOUSE

SOLAR CHARGE CONTROLLER FRONT LED readout is activated by red lit push button itself.  Leave in off position before closing lid to save power. BLACK ON/OFF TOGGLE SWITCHES CONTROL AIR PUMPS.  LEAVE IN ON POSITION  WITH PUMPS RUNNING, THEN CLOSE LID.

SOLAR CHARGE REAR CONTROLLER BACK-UP BATTERY AND SOLAR PANEL SCREW-ON CONNECTIONS. SAFETY FUSE is pull out type.

NOTE:  Insure all air pumphouse inlet air holes are covered by filter material provided.  Inspect and replace air filters as needed.  Additional filters are inside pump house.

If desired, a brick may be attached to sink airline when not using draft tube or floating diffusers..

5.) Slide pumphouse under panels and secure underside foot tab screws to base. Assemble diffuser (only one type of diffuser may be used at any time), extend air tubing, and check for kinks in tubes.  Connect pump house airline and diffuser airline.  Place airline and one diffuser in water and secure diffuser base with sand bags (not included) or use diffuser floats/draft tube.  When using fixed base diffuser,  extend diffuser base with pvc pipe (not included) so diffuser top water depth is no more than 3-4 feet submergence to maximize air flow.  MAXIMUM submergence is  4 feet.  For deeper ponds use our draft tube or float diffuser. 6.)Inspect and remove external debris or snow daily.   Solar control box will only allow operation between 13-14 volts to protect circuitry and battery. Unit is designed for 4 hours/day of direct sun.  For extended periods of no sun, replace and/or add more batteries  or operate with fewer pumps by unplugging one of the two electrical bayonets in pumphouse or purchase additional EKBS-15 units.

AIR DIFFUSER BASE CAN BE EXTENDED WITH PVC PIPE  SO BLACK AIR DISC IS 3-6 FEET DEEP MAXIMUM.

OR DRAFT TUBE FOR DEEPER PONDS CAN BE  PURCHASED SEPARATELY.

DRAFT TUBE (DT) INLET CAN BE MOVED INTO CANDY CANE POSITION FOR SHALLOW POND OPERATIONS.
