1.)Assemble solar array (directions on box) facing south in a well drained (a base of wood, concrete, or plastic sheeting covered by loose gravel works well) and sunny area. Lock panels into place. Space stabilizer spars so pumphouse fits under array. Attach frame base to spars with screws provided. Secure frame to ground to prevent movement.
2.) Open battery box carefully, Install 12 volt, (at least 440 amp) marine batteries, attach battery post clamps, and secure box lid.
3.) Uncrew and open pump house top. Plug in compressor completing all pump circuits. Depress black switch to on position. Pumps will vibrate and compress air. If they DO NOT contact us immediately. Use either one or both circuits based on
demand, sunshine, and backup maintenance requirements.
4.) Shield solar panels from sun with black plastic provided. Run solar cables (one lead at a time) through bottom box openings adjacent to battery cables and attach to controller box. Depress red switch and examine box LED. With connections secured and in direct sun it should read 12.7-14.0 volts. If not, call us. Next depress LED switch off to conserve energy. Depress black toggle switch to turn pumps on. Secure lid carefully.... to avoid... airline kinks or wiring snags.
5.) Slide pumphouse under panels and attach box foot tab supports angled to meet stabilizer spars. Assemble diffuser, extend air tubing, and check for kinks in tubes. Connect pump house airline and diffuser airline. Place airline and diffuser in water and secure all with sand bags (not included) or use diffuser floats (not included). When using fixed base diffuser, extend diffuser base with pvc pipe (not included) so diffuser top water depth is 3-6 feet submergence to maximize air flow.
When using draft tube or fixed base diffuser the maximum diffuser submergence is 6 feet.
6.)Inspect and remove external debris or snow daily. Solar control box will only allow operation between 13-14 volts to protect circuitry and battery. Unit is designed for 6 hours/day of direct sun. For extended periods of no sun, replace batteries with a freshly charged ones or operate with fewer pumps by unplugging one electrical bayonet in pumphouse or purchase additional EKBS-15 units.
