Our Product Description:
The PEC solar powered aeration system captures and uses a standard 12 volt car type battery to operate the system 24/7 for up to 3 cloudy days in a row. Our airlift tubes are so efficient at aerating and pumping water, that they can be powered 100% by the sun and its stored energy, 24/7.
The stored solar power drives one or more PEC-45 air pumps rated at 20,000 hours of maintenance free and lubrication free operation.
The pumped air moves through a flexible plastic tube to a floating airlift diffuser in the pond. The airlift diffuser operates either with a floated diffuser or inside a floating expandable tube. All pond water is then mixed and aerated to saturation from any depth. In this manner hypoxia is stopped and fish kills are prevented.
Installation:
If you can unpack the box you can setup the aerator on a dry well drained ground. No site preparation is required. No training is required.
Maintenance:
Keep the solar panel(s) and if used, airlift tube free of debris. No training is required and our total cost of ownership is the lowest of any aeration system we have tested.
FACT: Fish can't hold there breath anymore than you can. If it won't run 24/7, summer and winter,
then don't waste your money. Sustainable water quality improvement requires 24/7 aeration, period.
FICTION: Bottom mounted air diffusers are efficient aeration devices. In fact, disturbing pond bottom sediment creates huge oxygen demands and requires more aeration power. Leave it alone.
FICTION: Fountains are efficient aeration devices. In fact, fountains are far more efficient at evaporating and cooling the water than they ever will be at aerating it. In fact, the higher the fountain goes, the higher the energy and maintenance bills go as well. However, they are pretty to look at.
FACT: Fine bubble diffusers are not used for aquaculture. Very fine bubbles burn fish gills and attach to everything and float it to the surface where it creates a smelly sheen of dead and dying biomass.

One year bumper-to-bumper warranty. 2 year pump motor warranty excluding pump diaphragms which are recommended to be replaced annually at a cost of $35.00/pump. 5 year airlift diffuser warranty. 20 year* depreciating value PV solar panel warranty and recycling program (*maximum value is 10% of unit purchase price and depreciation rate is 5% per year less wear value as determined by PEC).
The TCO warranty can be translated simply as follows: You will not pay more than the retail cost of a pump repair kit (approx. $35/yr) for each PEC 45 pump annually, plus the cost of a replacement pump every 2 years (approx. $125/yr), plus shipping. Your TCO is( $160.00/yr). Assuming you had electric grid available, compare that to electric aeration at ($371.67-665.00/yr) .

All other aeration systems in the marketplace today were designed when power was cheap and are not applicable to solar powered aerations systems.
All of these high pressure systems, fountains and splashers, and deep water air injection systems are the antithesis of a LOWEST COST OF OWNERSHIP appoach. Simply stated these older technologies are based on applying as much energy as you can, in as little space as possible, in order to achieve a slightly higher SOTE and reduce energy useage by maybe 30%-50% while increasing the maintenance costs of these systems 10 times and MORE...
When using the air we breathe, you can only get about 8 pounds of oxygen dissolved into a million gallons of water. All oxygen transfer using air is a gas side limited reaction, period. (see ASCE Oxygen Transfer Testing). Ten States Standards for water and wastewater treatment realizes this and continues to publish their practical results using low pressure coarse bubble technology for aerating water.
